Our Youth Group

Hail! Hail! The gangs all Here

This photo was taken when we got a visit from a couple of Ashram execs, very formal guys as you can see. We had approximately one hundred kids a day, ranging in age from 11 to 14 years old, with some missing each day and some added each day, for a total of about 120 kids in total over the days we were there. They were divided into 4 main groups, red, blue, green and yellow, with points for each activity. There were daily memory verses and a lot of varied activities. The sessions were from 9:00am until noon ( dedicated to singing, group activities, drama, art, writing, etc) , 4:00pm to 5:00 pm( sports ), and from 7:00pm to 9:00pm (singing, presentations, etc) with staff meetings and eating in between. This was a very draining time for us "old people".

Cup Stacking

There were break off groups according to what activity the kids favoured. This is the cup stacking that was quite a hit with a lot of the kids. Others were in writing, drama and art groups when this was taking place.

Gladiator - Camp Style

This sport has a playing field of a wet, soapy tarp, then you line up on each side, each side being numbered, then you place a ball in the centre of the tarp, call out a number, and watch two people battle to get the ball to their side of the tarp, no standing allowed, done with crawling, pulling and tugging, etc. Then you do it all over again.

The Winner of the Bubble Gum Blob

This is the winning entry, for team points, of the biggest bubble gum blob. The plate is a paper dinner plate. This sat on the table for a day or so before we left, and started to "bleed" all over the table, yum, yum!
